Now more than ever is the time to have crucial and valiant discussions, and, following those discussions, work must also be done.

Join us on Thursday, June 25 at 11am for a very important Conversation on Equality, Diversity & Inclusion event with San Jose Sharks Left Wing Evander Kane and SAP Global Head of People Sustainability and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Judith Williams where they’ll dissect the problems in racial equity and social injustice and share action items to promote change within our communities.

Since entering the National Hockey League in 2009, Evander has strived to promote hockey in diverse, underserved communities in an attempt to broaden its inclusivity. With the newly formed Hockey Diversity Alliance, in which he was named co-chair on June 8, he will have a greater platform to promote diversity and eradicate racism in the sport of hockey.

We stand with the Hockey Diversity Alliance and are hopeful that you can join us to listen, learn, and promote social and racial equality for all.

Evander Kane

Evander Kane is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Kane was selected fourth overall in the first round of the 2009 entry draft.

He was recently named Co-Head of the Hockey Diversity Alliance on June 8th 2020, an independent organization started by minorities who play professional hockey.

The mission of the Alliance is eradicate racism and intolerance in hockey. The organization will strive to be a force for positive change not only within the game of hockey, but also within society. The hope is that anyone that puts on skates or sits in the stands will do so without worrying about race, gender or socioeconomic backgrounds and will be able to express their culture, identity, values and personality without fear of retribution

Judith Williams

Judith Williams is leading the way in a new era of Diversity & Inclusion.

After years of trailblazing efforts for D&I at tech giants including Google and Dropbox, Williams joined SAP as head of people sustainability and chief D&I officer in 2018.

SAP, which has been acknowledged for its efforts to recruit and promote a diverse workforce, was named by Forbes as the best employer for diversity in 2020.

Changing the culture at a company with 100,000 global employees, just a quarter of whom are based in North America, is no easy feat. For Williams’s part, she tackles the issue like any business problem. And like in other parts of her job, it starts and ends with data. The numbers inform her strategy, set expectations, establish accountability and, ultimately, measure results.
