Bob Sutton is an organizational change expert and a New York Times bestselling author. His research focuses on organizational change, leadership, innovation, and workplace dynamics.

At Stanford, Sutton is a Professor of Management Science and Engineering. He co-founded the Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP) and the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (“the d.school”). 

He is also the co-director of Designing Organizational Change at Stanford and has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and management outlets, including the Harvard Business Review and the McKinsey Quarterly

His current project, The Friction Project, focuses on causes and cures for destructive organizational friction, as well as how to utilize good friction. During his talk, he will explain how leaders—often unwittingly—engage in behavior that add friction to the system and will present the two beliefs that guide The Friction Project
