Café Scientifique - Join us for another exciting Virtual Café Scientifique featuring Miki Sode, Ph.D
This year we are celebrating 20 years of continuous human presence in space, onboard the International Space Station (ISS). Did you know that the ISS is a U.S. National Laboratory? The ISS National Lab is accessible to commercial companies, entrepreneurs and startups, and academic and government institutions for groundbreaking science, technology, and innovation across a diverse range of fields, including fundamental and translational research in the life sciences, physical sciences, remote sensing, technology development, and education. This talk will focus on how researchers and companies are taking advantage of the unique environment onboard the ISS to benefit life on Earth and return value to the nation.
Miki Sode, Ph.D., is a Commercial Innovation Manager at the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, the sole manager of the ISS National Lab. Combining her multidisciplinary background and passion for space-based research, she advocates for utilizing the space environment to advance science and technology development for the benefit of life on Earth.

Café Scientifique is a place where anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. The Café provides a forum for debating science issues outside a traditional academic context. We are committed to promoting public engagement with science and to making science accountable - all spoken in plain English. There is no admission charge to attend our events.
Building on its great success outside the United States, Café Scientifique Silicon Valley is the first such Café on the West Coast. We meet monthly to discuss a variety of science topics.
